Biggs, a nurse practitioner and lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard, clinched the Republican nomination after a competitive runoff against Trump-endorsed pastor Mark Burns, gaining the backing of Governor Henry McMaster. Her win continues the district's trend of Republican leadership, with no Democrats elected since 1994.
