U.S. Representative James E. Clyburn
U.S. Representative James E. Clyburn, a Democrat, has represented South Carolina's 6th Congressional District since 1993, making him one of the longest-serving members of the House of Representatives. Clyburn is a prominent figure in national politics and a key voice within the Congressional Black Caucus. Known for his efforts to expand access to healthcare, improve education, and create economic opportunities in underserved communities, he played a pivotal role in securing federal investments for rural development and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Before Congress, he was an advisor to several South Carolina governors and led the state's Human Affairs Commission.
